HEART IS WHERE THE HOME IS
Walk-in sculpture
Oils on wood 2011
is a response to the fragility of our sense of self
which can be eroded by various situations including being a migrant or refugee.
HEART IS WHERE THE HOME IS (and its title)
was conceived before our earthquakes of 2010 & 2011
but they certainly add resonance to its meaning.
You are warmly invited to walk around the sculpture and into it.
It’s about nurturing sense of self and wellbeing in ourselves and others
and I hope it feels good to look at and be in it!

Many thanks to Christchurch Community Arts Council,
Gap Filler, Christchurch City Council
and Arts in Oxford
for making a number of showings possible.
I am absolutely delighted with the responses I have received from many people
who have visited and gone inside.
HEART IS WHERE THE HOME IS
Would love to grace the foyer (or similar)
of a publicly accessible indoor space
where it would enhance the environment for everyone using the building.
