Art inspired by road trips around Te Waipounamu (South Island, NZ).
Materials of low environmental cost like 2nd hand picture frames, left over fabric
and small amounts of artists’ quality acrylics added to colour or texture of fabric.
(And nowadays the road trips are electric.)
And also in the interests of low environmental cost, I sometimes cut up and reuse old paintings I don’t want anymore. In these cases, I’m not crazy about the composition I originally chose but I do like some of the colours, shapes and textures. For these 2 works, I cut up previous oil paintings and added driftwood and left over fabric:
These suspended paintings use 2nd hand frames, bound with satin selvedge from Creative Junk, with cut up old oil paintings or leftover fabric painted with thinned acrylics.
